Reebok retail rush — December Saturdays mean Christmas shoppers clogging the M61 junction — come by train if you can.
Winter Hill weather — The stadium sits high and exposed; February wind cuts straight through the away end. Bring a layer more than you think.

Horwich Parkway — Purpose-built station 10 minutes from the turnstiles; direct trains from Bolton and Manchester Victoria.
From Manchester — Train to Bolton then change, or tram to Radcliffe and a taxi; allow 75 minutes from Piccadilly.
Driving — Right off the M61 with big official car parks — one of the easiest drives in the division, but J6 queues badly after full time.

Short, steep climb above Horwich to a hilltop folly with views to the Lake District on a clear day.

Smithills Hall

Tudor manor house in wooded grounds, ten minutes north of the ground.

East Lancashire Railway, Bury

Heritage steam line 20 minutes away; check the running days before you plan around it.

Lower-profile pubs, cafés and corners the locals keep to themselves.
